The Hydra began life as a custom guitar. Since its first appearance, Zerberus Guitars, has received
many personal inquiries about a limited production run of this innovative, attractively styled model. Keen as ever to respond to the wishes of its discerning customers, Zerberus proudly released the new Hydra for sale in June
of 2005. So once again a Zerebus guitar is available with a Floyd Rose licence tremolo, the same system succesfully employed on a previous Zerberus model - the Q-Deluxe. One of the big advantages of the Hydras Floyd Rose
License system is that one is not required to remove the ball ends whilst changing strings. They are run through the end of the tremolo and locked in the saddle, tuning adjustment being accomplished by the knurled fine tuning
knobs at the rear of the bridge. As with the Morpheus, the body of the Hydra is fashioned from solid Korina, an African hardwood similar in appearance to Mahogany, but with a much lower mass and superior resonance. The
arched top is finished with a beautiful book-matched flamed Maple veneer, the neck is made from hand selected hard Maple and the fingerboard is made of choice rosewood.
Unplugged, the Hydra has a more earthy tone compared to the Morpheus. But like its stable mate, the Hydra has great attack and sustain, and comes alive when plugged in. Whilst not initially designed as a multi-purpose guitar,
the Hydra has a broad tonal spectrum, making it suitable for many musical styles. The two humbucker configuration combined with a 5-position switch offers a variety of sounds. (1) Dual-Rail-Humbucker as singlecoil (Neck).
(2)
Dual-Rail-Humbucker as singlecoil (Neck) + Dual-Rail-Humbucker Fullsize (Bridge) with coils switched in parallel.

efficient neck joint and double cutaway that provides easy access to its 24 frets. Like the Morpheus, the Hydra is hand-built to Zerberus specifications by an award winning small factory in Korea, the final setup and installation
of electronic components taking place at the Zerberus workshops in Germany. |
